What is Cold-Applied Liquid Waterproofing?
Liquid waterproofing is a cold-applied roofing system that uses a liquid PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) membrane which is painted or rolled directly onto the roof surface. Unlike sheet membrane systems, liquid waterproofing creates a seamless, fully bonded, continuous layer with no joints or seams – eliminating one of the most common causes of water ingress on flat roofs.
The system is particularly useful for roofs with complex details, multiple penetrations, awkward upstands, or irregular geometry where a sheet membrane would be difficult to install correctly. At The Flat Roofing Company, we use liquid waterproofing as a complementary system alongside our single-ply membrane installations – painting on liquid membrane for difficult or intricate details where the primary membrane system needs additional support.
